Our company has given this classic effect a new look by developing a version that uses a large magic wand instead of a traditional wand. The magician displays a large black wand with white tips. A piece of string goes through each end, and different colored pompoms are attached to each end of the string. The magician pulls one of the pompoms up or down on one side to show that the two pompoms are connected by the same string, which runs through the wand. He then does the same with the pompoms on the other side. ... And now the fun begins! As the magician pulls one of the pompoms on one side of the wand up or down, the audience sees one of the pompoms on the other side go up. This is repeated with increasing participation and enjoyment from the audience, who go "crazy" trying to understand how the pompoms are "magically" connected. The pompoms can be pulled in any direction, but the end result remains. Of course, at the end, everyone will believe that the pompoms on each side are connected by the wand to the pompoms on the opposite side. But the magician then splits the wand in half, revealing that there is absolutely no connection!
