The magician shuffles a deck of cards with some face-up and some face-down cards randomly. He selects one or more of the face-up cards. After the selected cards are placed back into the deck, he shuffles it again. When the cards are spread out (or fanned) on the table, the entire deck is magically face-down and the only face-up cards are the spectator's selection!
