Some cards are shuffled, split into two face-down piles, and one pile is handed to an audience member. Both the magician and the audience member place their respective piles behind their backs, choose a card at will, and then swap them. These cards are placed face down in the middle of their respective piles. When the two piles are fanned out, the chosen cards turn out to be exactly the same! Just as the audience begins to believe that all cards must be the same, the two piles are revealed and the cards turn out to be the same... but all different from the two selections!
