Pistachios by the cup

The magician offers his audience some pistachios and eats one himself. Then he takes one and places it on an upturned glass. Now comes the truly incredible part: The magician makes a magical gesture with his hand near the glass, and the pistachio visibly penetrates the solid base of the upturned glass!
